Spring Break 2003: 500 mile road trip central and south coast of Oregon.
Loren AKA the quiet planner of her own schedule, bearer of the fuzzy antennas.
Kirsten AKA Lord general of all things and mobile DJ, ROCK ON!
Dryden AKA the unshakable and often unwakable.
Kelin AKA The Driver and keeper of the coin.

Location: Taft south of Lincoln City in the bay at low tide.
A "little" cliff climbing...
A little more cliff climbing...
Location: Moolach Beach

just before Newport Or.

Lots of rock and interesting tide pools.

Looking north on Moolach beach.
A lone standing patch of grass left from erosion.
We need this in our front yard Dad!
Performing her world renown  "the hills are alive..."
Goodbye beach, we're off again heading through Newport to the Sea Lion caves...
Location: Sea lion caves just north of florence Oregon.
I wonder why they call it the Sea lion caves?
Looking North from inside the caves.
Sea lions have literally taken over this cave! it smells of them...
After a lengthy discussion between cabin or suite we found deluxe accommodations at the Driftwood Shores Resort, seemingly the only place in Florence with an ocean view.

Complete Kitchen, we baked bread all night.
I was just glad to find a bed and not a car seat!!!!
A late night game of LIFE Dryden is the smug Banker.. That's his game face.
Foiled... I wanted to be the banker!!! that's her game face..
But wait, ganging up is female fair play.. That's Lorens game face.
I'm not going to say a word and use eye contact with the Banker! maybe an occasional under the table foot smashing.
Morning comes and there's no clear winner, reluctantly I wake them up and prepare for another day of the unknown.
It's a little stormy in the morning, after breakfast we visit a rain swept rocky beach north of Florence. Then head north, off to Newport.
Newport: The personal dock of a  Sea Lioness.

Nothing reminds me that I'm single more then seeing a fat female sinking a dock.

It's good to be the king...

This is a very crowded dock, they would bark constantly it was really funny to watch and listen to them. Hehe they look like sailors after a night of shore leave...
We don't look like tourists, nope not at all....
From the bridge we saw this great jetty with waves crashing on it, so we,, well I decided to check it out..
It proved to be a lot of climbing over rocks, not to be easily thwarted we headed out bent on discovery!
The little rocks became big rocks and chasms...
The coast guard was called in to make sure we were ok...

We're just fine =) thanks!

Some huge waves were roaring in and we still had so far to go to the lighthouse.

We pressed on..

The weather started getting rough...
We're getting closer =)
Wow Hang on kids!
That ones going over the top!
Loren loved the jetty, I think the most out of the three, she was always way ahead.
Back on the beach I had the kids map out the coalition forces battle plan converging on Baghdad.

No it was a sand castle design =)

If I don't nod my head or say uh huh, she'll stop talking.. no that never works..
That's right Daddy!
I'm cool.. Cat on my head! Cat on my head!
After dinner in Lincoln City, we headed inland and home, it was a great road trip! and full of adventure, I know I'll remember it for a long while.. Nice way to start 2003
